As a little extra for today, I decided I would post about a movie I watched today, called Dawn of the Dead.
Now of course, it was the modern version, as I'm too cool for the old ones (=D), and I figured I would exploit some obvious problems with this film. I remember the end of the film better then I do the start, so the first (SPOILERS AHEAD)
thing I'm going to mention is the two minibuses that you see at the end. These are used as 'armoured vehicles' to get from the mall to the dock. The main thing I'd like to draw your attention to is the second one, which is driven by Kenneth (played by Ving Rhames), and as you'll know if you've seen the film, as they enter a hard left turn, it spins over and crashes. Now, I personally would blame this on the driver, as it's clearly his fault. Unfortunately, the characters in this film don't seem to take this the same way, as they let Kenneth drive the OTHER armoured vehicle after he had crashed the first one! And what do you know, he goes on to crash the SECOND one into the pier at the Marina, trapping and eventually killing the oh so wonderful CJ.
The next thing I'm going to mention is their getaway to an island, obviously they've all been to the gun store and got plenty of ammo, so surely at the first island they arrive at, they would have enough ammo to fend off any attackers? And, who would be stupid enough to send all of them onto the island, just 'assuming' it would be safe, without any form of a backup plan? I for one would've moored off the coast slightly, and try to create an awful lot of noise in order to lure the zombies out, so you could see how bad the infection was.
The third point I'm going to make is the oh so wonderful twit that is Steve. As you'll know if you've seen the film, he ends up betraying the main characters by not staying behind to hold the maintenance access door open, for those returning from the gun store. Upon their return, they find Steve enjoying himself by the recently armoured vehicles, and CJ exclaims that he'll deal with him later. Where was this deal? To be perfectly honest, I would've expected CJ's character to be the type that would've shot or maimed Steve as soon as he found him, not just shout threats.
That's all for now folks!
